Faux painting provides homes and offices the kind of paint finish that resembles a wide variety of surfaces. They can be coated, breathable, or semi-permeable, to have a sealed surface. Faux painting is used with a glaze which makes the paint clear and is normally applied after the wall had been painted with the base color. Glazes are a thin colored compound that includes pigment, binder, and usually water. They are not as durable as Venetian plaster and can fade to somewhat of a degree depending on the pigments and exposure to sunlight and elements.

I didn’t realize that residential Venetian plaster takes 3 times longer to apply than faux finishes. Being thicker by nature is a characteristic I like, however, and I think would work well in my bathroom. Working with a professional to apply the plaster would be something I would also consider doing.
