Hi There, Fellow Gardeners!
This is Becca.
Cleaning out a congested drain can be an unwanted hassle – and costly. We at Organic Gurlz Gardens have a few tips for unclogging the sink pipes.
One of the most obvious ways to prevent clogging is to avoid placing hair or large items down the drain. Washing down the sink with hot water also aids in keeping the drain from obstacles.
Deodorizing the garbage disposal:
If your garbage disposal is beginning to stink up the whole kitchen, here’s an easy and nifty way to deodorize it: Save some leftover orange and lemon peels and toss them down the drain. This keeps a lovely citrus scent, without having to go through the hassle of store bought “fresheners”.
Lost something…. important?-
Okay… quite a few of us have heard the speech – “… my wedding ring went down the black hole! I’m serious!”
Well, we at Organic Gurlz Gardens are here to share how to retrieve that precious (and expensive) piece of jewelry.
Stop using the sink with the ‘clot’.
Place a bucket underneath the pipes.
Detach the nuts at both ends of the J-bend (“J” shaped section of the P-trap). If the pipe fittings are jammed, use a wrench or pliers to help wedge them free. Wrap the connecting nuts with painter’s tape or a rag so the finish doesn’t turn, well, not-so-finished.
Shake the pipe out over the bucket to (hopefully) retrieve the important item. (Caution – this step may create quite a stench.)
So, don’t worry about never seeing a very important piece of jewelry that ‘mistakenly’ fell down the drain, or fret over a fragment of sponge block the airways of the sink…
These few natural remedies may help with clearing up the passage ways of the drain.

Keep on growing!
