See It Before you Build It – Middletown NJ Kitchen

This entry was posted in Home and Family Lifestyle and tagged , , , , , , on by .

This Monmouth County client wanted to open their kitchen to the dining area and living room. The new layout provides a better dining space, stool seating at the relocated sink, and more counter space and storage. Partially opening the wall provides the access the client wanted while the rooms remain their own individual spaces. The kitchen has become the heart of the home with direct connections to the family room, living room, pool/rear yard, and stairs leading up to the bedrooms.

White cabinets, Light grey walls and a light counter top combined with great lighting make for a bright, inviting space. Natural oak floors and oil rubbed bronze accents add depth and character to the design.

Do you like an open floor plan for your kitchen?

It’s easy to do so with a variety of possibilities in front of you. I always advise them to have a design in mind, whether it be traditional, transitional or contemporary. From there, it’s easy to mix and match materials for your room. For example, a contemporary design often consists of clean lines, a traditional design often features ornate details and a transitional design combines both worlds.  With a design in mind, one can move forward with design trends, such as…

Are you planning a home remodeling project? Where do you start gathering information and ideas? Two of the most common options are the internet and home shows. Both venues can offer great insight to projects, companies, products and design ideas. While both are viable, they have a different set of pros and cons and may cater to different audiences.

Design Build Planners at the Remodeling home show (1)Home shows are a group of company exhibits set up in a building, typically for a weekend, for consumers to visit and view. Admission for an adult will range from free to perhaps $12. Often there are coupons or discounts available from either the show promoter or individual exhibitors. While attending, homeowners can see the displays of the companies that may range from full service, general contractors to individual trades people like painters, electricians, architects, designers, siding installers…etc. There may also be suppliers there displaying products that may include appliances, tile, windows, generators…etc. Continue reading
