Today, Organic Gurlz Gardens of Indiana will be sharing recipes on Smoothies for The Summer.
Don’t waste your energy racing after the ice-cream truck to cool you off! These home-made smoothies are almost sure to lower your temperature.
Kiwi Spinach Delight:
In the summertime, nothing can keep you more than a refreshing smoothie! And what could be more tropical than kiwi? Here is our recipe for a healthy way to chill out:
We use:
- 2 kiwis, peeled and halved
- ½ of a banana, peeled
- 1 cup of freshly-picked baby spinach
- 1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt (We change up the flavor depending on our pallet mood)
- 2 tbsp. of ground flax seed
- 1/2 cup of apple juice
- 2 handfuls of ice cubes
Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender. Mix until consistency is rich and creamy.
Enjoy!
Don’t squash this out!
Before you run to your hammock by the pool with your kiwi smoothie, try this delectable beverage right at home-
We use-
- 1 zucchini, peeled, grate, and chopped
- 1 whole carrot, peeled, grated, and chopped
- ½ cup of Greek plain yogurt
- ½ cup of whole milk
- 2 tbsp. of honey
- 1 tbsp. Chia or flax seeds (we recommend doing one or the other – not both)
- 2 tbsp. of rolled oats
Add all of the ingredients into the blender. Blend to desired consistency.
Perfect for nights out on the porch, or for just a grab-n-go in the morning!
A few benefits of Carrots-
At Organic Gurlz Gardens, we love carrots for so many reasons (besides the taste)-
Carrots are amazingly high in vitamin A and C, have a perfect amount of Potassium, and may help prevent cancer!
In addition, Carrots may help prevent heart disease, assist with digestion, and strengthen up the immune system guards.
Although Carrots are generally Orange in color, there can be a variety of different hues – Purple, Red, White, and Yellow.
Don’t forget to tell your kids, grandchildren , nieces and nephews about the Kids Oasis!
