Remodeling Design in Long Island NY (1)The Long Island, New York homeowners wanted to make changes to almost every portion of their home. This includes remodeling of the first floor bedrooms (into one master suite), living room, hall bathroom, kitchen, and exterior.  All lighting and windows were to be redone as per the plan. They hired Design Build Planners to create designs for their home design and remodeling project. To begin, the first floor bedrooms were to be combined in order to create a master suite. In addition, there was to be a five fixture master bathroom. In the living room, wood simulated tile was to be installed. Next, the kitchen and dining room were to be extended. In the exterior, siding and roofing to match the existing were installed. Here is the overview of the complete design build remodeling project. Master Suite
  • Combine all first floor bedrooms into master suite space

  • Level entry shower (42” x 96”) with:
    • 48” knee walls

    • Rain head and handheld
    • Pebble floor (flows into toilet area)
    • Tile to ceiling with glass features
    • Frameless surround
    • Separate “his” and “her” sinks with open storage
    • Freestanding soaking tub
    • Tile floor
    • Tile walls to 48”
    • Pocket door with smoked glass
    • “his” closet approximately 7’ x 9’6”
    • Master bedroom approximately 15’ x 16’
    • Crown and chair rail with two-tone paint
    • “hers” closet with closet system
    • Wood simulated tile flooring in bedroom and closets
Living Room
  • Move front door wall to even with the living room wall
  • Stairs and railing as drawn
  • Optional built ins drawn
  • Wood simulated tile flooring in living room and hall
  • Add a closet at the end of the stair run
  • Crown molding
Hall bath
  • Hall bath per plan
  • Shower at the exterior wall
  • Toilet and pedestal sink
  • Wood simulated tile flooring
Kitchen
  • Extend kitchen and dining room approximately 6’
  • Kitchen per plan with island seating
  • Appliances:
    • 36” cooktop
    • Built in microwave
    • Oven
    • Warming drawer
    • French door refrigerator
    • Dishwasher
    • Glass pocket door to living room
    • Gliding door to exterior
    • Painted cabinets with wood hood
    • Crown molding in the entire kitchen
    • Tile backsplash, tile floor, and quartz countertop
    • Laundry closet
Exterior
  • Paver patio approximately 10’ x 28’
  • Siding to match existing
  • Roof to match existing
Lighting and windows per plan The homeowners  drew their inspiration from home remodeling projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and kitchen use. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
