The Monmouth, New Jersey homeowners thought it was time to go for the remodeling projects of their dreams. The homeowners opted for the “WOW” package which included changes to the the following:
- Front Porch
- Living Room
- Dining Room
- Kitchen
- New Bathroom
- Front Bedroom
- Rear Bedroom
- Existing Bathroom
They hired Design Build Planners to create a their master bedroom suite designs. Above is a dollhouse overview of the project.
Here is the overview of the remodeling design scope:
Front Porch
- Vault ceiling and add beams per plan (finished in beadboard)
- Extend lower room to main home
- Extend framing above windows above perimeter
- Frame over porch columns
- Install ceiling fan
- New engineered flooring
- New front door
- Re-install interior door and switch hinge
- Install bench seating with storage
Living Room
- Install barn-style doors for bedrooms
- Frame wall mount for TV
- New engineered flooring
Dining Room
- New engineered flooring
- Enlarge opening to the kitchen
Kitchen
- Remove two closets on the side wall
- Close in one window and finish interior and exterior
- Shorten one window opening and install a new window
- Enlarge one window width and cut down for a sliding door
- Install transom window
- Reconfigure kitchen as per plan
- Peninsula seating for two
- Close door to the mud room
- Vault ceilings and add beams per plan
- New engineered wood floor
New Bathroom
- Extend mudroom to create a larger space
- Removing dining room window and install a new pocket door
- Install wide shower stall, pedestal sink, and toilet
- Tile flooring
- Beadboard on walls to 48″
- Install washer and dryer
- New exhaust vented to the exterior
Front Bedroom
- Remove entry door and retrim as needed
- Change bathroom door to a pocket door
- New engineered flooring
Existing Bathroom
- Convert tub to a shower and change size using front bedroom closet
- Build a bench and a niche\
- Move toilet per plan
- Move sink per plan
- Install linen cabinet
- New vanity, mirror, and two lights
- Close in existing window and install a new awning window
- Tile in shower on floor and walls to the ceilings
- Tile on floor
- Bedboard on walls to 60″
- New exhaust vented to the exterior
The homeowners drew their inspiration from remodeling projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and room usage. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
