Pendant Lights for Remodeling Projects
Choosing a light fixture, while you’re remodeling, seems to be an ordinary, everyday task, something that all of us can apparently do with ease. Remember though we are in an age where the typical overhead lighting, has given way to newer and more exciting options. Picking the right type of lighting is very important as nothing can put you off more than a poorly or overly lit room or a washed-out space.
While overhead lighting works well in cooking spaces, you’d want something different at work stations and task spots. You’d want bright, shadow-free illumination at these areas and task lighting- such as pendant lights– could be a good, sophisticated choice. Considering their versatility and style, these are quite the rage, and you can be sure of making a dramatic style statement. So what is a pendant light?
Sometimes referred to as drop or suspender light, pendant lights are fixtures that hang from the ceiling suspended by either a cord, a rod or a chain. It’s simpler than a chandelier and not as imposing. They work well when you’re trying to focus specific areas such as work spots in the kitchen island, study or the area above the dining room table.
Pendant lights come in variety of styles, sizes, colors and materials. Pendant light shades that come in glass, fabric and metal can be combined with pendant lights to create just the kind of decor that you want. As they also come in a variety of finishes, you’ll need to choose similar or complementary ones that blend with the overall style of the room. You can either opt for a closed shade, which hides the bulb and gives a soft light or the open shade that creates bright spots right below. Drum shades bounce light off the ceiling. Take your pick.
