DBPlanners Answer Your Top 3 FAQ About Monmouth County Home Additions

Monmouth County Home Additions - Kitchen AdditionPutting an addition your home should be fun – so why do so many people get stressed out over it? Well, because there are so many little things to get stressed out over, that’s why. There are so many variables and things that can go wrong, as well as questions people have about the process. That is why we decided to ask the DBPlanners some of the top questions people have, and let them answer the questions for you.

I am planning an addition to my home and am unsure whether I should go big all at once, or add things in slowly as I save money?

We can’t tell you how to spend your money, but we will say this: it is so much more expensive to have a professional remodeling contractor come out and add an addition onto an addition, than it is to just do the work all at once. You might be looking at an extra 100% of the cost to do things separately, when it might only be an additional 20% to get things done all at once.

We understand you might be short on money, but it might even work out less expensively to take out a loan to get it all done at once. Even with the interest rates, you’ll save money, and the NJ home addition process only needs to happen once.

How much time will it take until my addition is complete?

It’s a very difficult and subjective question to answer. There are no hard and fast guidelines for how long it will take to complete your addition.

The best thing you can do is ask for a time estimate when you are interviewing all your potential NJ remodeling contractors. You should be able to notice a pattern emerging and you can disqualify the ones that give too long estimates or the ones that seem unreasonably quick.

Will I still be able to use my house while the remodelers are working on the addition?

This all depends on where the addition is taking place. In most cases, you won’t lose access to your whole house, but you may not be able to easily use the half of the room that the addition will be attached to. Try and prepare for this and remove all things you might need out of that area, as well as anything you don’t want to get dusty or dirty. There WILL be a lot of dust and dirt flying around!
