Today, Organic Gurlz Gardens of Fort Wayne, Indiana will be sharing information on how to Maintain a Beautiful Lawn Organically
Ever had the “dream” yard vision? Just imagine; sitting on your lovely deck, sipping some refreshing home-brewed ginger tea, and looking out at the gorgeous-green carpet lawn. In the humorous contrast of reality, you are not sitting, your scrambling to your yard; the ginger tea is replaced with chemical-filled pesticides in one hand and a bag of weed a feed in the other.
Let’s face it, fall is one of the best times to catch up on repairs for the lawn, but harmful chemicals aren’t the route to take. Do it the environmentally friendly way!
(And I don’t just mean pulling out the “electric” lawnmower :))
Maintaining a beautiful lawn organically:
Reason with Weeds!
Method 1.)
At Organic Gurlz Gardens, we practice tolerating a couple of weeds. After all, you may be able to consume them!
In our lawn, we have a few weeds here and there with reason; you can eat them! Although, almost no one enjoys weeds as, well, a “weed”, dandelion leaves and flowers are actually edible!
*With that being “written” our yard isn’t weed-topia, but a happy 3 or 4 dandelion plants.*
While Design Build Planners cannot help with a green lawn, they can certainly create a backyard oasis. Check out this fabulous Outdoor Living Space in Morris County, New Jersey!
Method 2.)
Dig up weeds by hand and sprinkle a few flower or veggie seeds on any bare spots so weeds are crowded to grow there. Water regularly with a fine spray until the grass sprouts. Keep plants growing vigorously to overwhelm the weeds.
(This method works better around the edges of your yard; when raking up the leaves, you don’t want to step on a squash!)
There is nothing in comparison to Organic Gurlz Gardens special secret of both compost as the guaranteed growing producer in your Organic Garden!
This is why we at O.G.G. can offer premium service and maintenance with our raised garden beds for 5 years.
The best outcome for your garden is Organic Gurlz Gardens!
Brown or yellow patches in the lawn?
Grass stains. Not the one you receive on clothing; the undesired type that makes the grass appear “stained”.
Don’t worry, we at Organic Gurlz Gardens have been dealing with this persistent issue for years, but we discovered an organic solution.
Believe it or not, grass can take on the straw look when pesticides are in use!
**If you use pesticides, now is the time to cut back or eliminate them completely from your shopping list. **
Also, under watering and over watering your lawn can have the same yellowish effect.
Try to only water when necessary (Or just let the rain do the hard work for you! It can save money and water!).
Don’t forget to tell your kids, grandchildren , nieces and nephews about the Kids Oasis!
