The East Windsor New Jersey homeowners sought to build the luxury basement of their dreams. While this project was underway, they decided that they wanted to also make changes to the kitchenette, exercise room, and bathroom. However, the main undertaking was the theater room. This room included 9 seats with a second and third level.  They hired Design Build Planners to create the designs for the remodeling project. To the right is a dollhouse overview of the project.

Below is the full scope and overview of the entire remodeling project.

General

• Change rear door to full glass (with blinds) and a wrought iron storm door for protection
• Utility room at the rear door
• Closet for stacked table storage
• Foosball area near rear door
• Wood-like tile flooring with a parquet fold-up dance floor depicted
• Open long wall wall of the stairs with new metal rail and spindles
• Closet storage under stairs with two doors for theater A/V access
• Large base, chair rail, and crown molding
• Two-tone paint
• Trim windows with elongated for a taller window appearance
• A/V built in shelving under stairs (for storage area)
• Additional hook up for projector and screen

Kitchenette

• Gallery shaped space with oven and microwave in tall cabinet
• Sink at wall
• TV over sink
• Straight island with seating for seven
• Full size bottom mount refrigerator
• Wood-like tile floor in kitchen area
• Tile splash, quartz countertop, cherry stained cabinets

Exercise Room

• Close in area with with knee wall and clear glass wall/door system
• Vented access door for for Internet and networking panel access
• Carpet floor

Theater Room

• Nine seats with raised second and third rows (elevated walkway also)
• Performing stage/platform in front of projector screen
• Carpet flooring
• Trey style ceiling
• Lowered crown with rope-up lighting
• Second crown under trey
• Wallpaper the wall area
• Large base

Bathroom

• Large double shower with an oversized bench, niche and steam unit depicted
• Rain head and handheld units
• Body spray walls
• Sink in vanity

• Custom sauna with bathroom access, window to main area

The homeowners drew their inspiration from remodeling projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and kitchen use. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
