These Essex County homeowners are ready to transform their kitchen. The kitchen remodel in West Orange, NJ consisted of a complete kitchen renovation. In addition to the kitchen remodeling, the basement was also scheduled to be reconfigured. The West Orange, New Jersey homeowners hired the Design Build Planners to create their remodeling designs.
Thus, the homeowners were presented with three different packages. Plan 1 is known as the “Robust” package. Plan 2 is known as the “Modest” package. Finally, Plan 3 is known as the “WOW” package. Plan 3-“WOW” Package
Kitchen/Living Room
- Remove the wall from the dining room to the kitchen (including the rear bearing wall)
- Close windows per plan
- Install a new bay window to the rear
- Install a 42″ door and close the the openings as needed
- Reconfigure the kitchen per plan
- Single tier island with seating for four
- Match hardwood from dining room in the kitchen and finish/refinish both rooms to match
- Add square coffered ceiling design with crown details using existing wall locations for pattern
- Relocate two-thirds of the built in cabinetry and relocate them on the dining room wall (add end cabinet)
- Mounted TV
- Mahogany stained cabinets, stained trim, painted white built ins
- Quatz countertop, marble island, glass tile splash
- Lighting per plan
- Remove louver closets and install and install cabinets in living room as per plan
- Open shelf storage and custom radiator cover
- Puck lights with glass shelves in the built ins
- Lighting per plan
Basement
- Close in the laundry area
- Reconfigure the space per plan, add base, wall cabinetry, and a sink
- Bi-fold doors for laundry access
- Add bi-fold door to the utility room
- Build a closed pantry with open shelving
- Build a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower
- Tile on the bathroom, shower, and laundry floors
- Concrete on shower walls
- Carpet in main area and pantry
- Enlarge the door to the garage
- Lighting per plan
The homeowners style preferences were for a modern look and finishes. They drew their inspiration from kitchen projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and kitchen use. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
