Helpful Tips

  • Make sure that you have the proper tools.

Successfully installing wallpaper starts off with the use of proper wallpapering tools. These tools include paperhanging scissors, a leveling tool, a sponge, a seam roller, a paperhanging brush, a pasting brush, a cutting edge, and wallpaper paste.

  • Be conscious of your layout.

The layout of your wallpaper is the key to successful installation. You want to make sure that you follow the same pattern that you started hanging your wallpaper. You also want to make sure that your wallpaper is installed straight which can be easily accomplished with the leveling tool. Keep in mind that is it absolutely normal that your first piece will not align with your last installed piece. It is a good idea to start your wallpaper installation behind a door or in an area that is unnoticeable.

  • Four is better than two.

You may be very confident with your two eyes, but having an extra set to help you hang wallpaper may add to your success. Another set of eyes can help you to determine if your wallpaper is being installed in a straight line and if your pattern is still on target as you carry on with your installation. If needed, you can even bring in help from a professional. Of course, it may cost you extra, but at least you can be confident that your installation will be successful and to your satisfaction.

How to Install

  1. Draw a line on the wall with a pencil to mark your starting point. Use the leveling tool to make sure that the line is straight. Cut your wallpaper with the paperhanging scissors and align with the mark on the wall after applying the paste to the back of the wallpaper.
  2. With the paperhanging brush, brush the paper from top to bottom and make sure that that paper stays aligned with the mark. Unfold the paper and work your way down. Use the brush to get rid of any wallpaper bubbles. Continue with the remaining wallpaper.
  3. Use the sponge and slightly apply water to it. This is to be used for getting rid of excess wallpaper paste. You can also use it to remove the paste from your baseboard and ceiling.

Beautifying your home with new wallpaper is a great option for a new look. Make sure to use the following the tips that are listed above to make sure that your wallpaper installation is hassle free and overall successful
