It is not only used in many recipes but is also used in a variety of household tasks. When it comes to freshening or cleaning in and around the house, this is truly the miracle ingredient.

Some of the most common and popular uses of baking soda are listed below.

If your stovetop is too grimy and messy, it can be cleaned by sprinkling baking soda generously over the top and spraying boiling hot water over it so the soda gets dissolved without running all over. Allow the paste to soak for about half an hour and then scrub clean. You will find the stove top as good as new.

If your roast pan has become crusty, you can solve the problem by sprinkling baking soda generously over the pan and pouring hot water about 1-2 inches deep. Allow a couple of hours for soaking.

Many times, we find stubborn stains of coffee on the coffee mugs that do not go away easily. To solve this problem, use a wet cloth to wipe the mug and then gently rub the interiors of the mug using baking soda. In case of particularly stubborn stains, the mugs can also be allowed to soak in baking soda and hot water mixture for some hours.

If your bath tub has become too grimy and has a lot of stains, no problems, just make a paste of bleach with baking soda and use a wet sponge for scrubbing off stains and grime from the tub surface. Just like bath tub, a kitchen sink made up of stainless steel can also be cleaned by sprinkling some baking soda in the sink and wiping off clean using a wet sponge.

If your favorite China has black or grey cutlery markings, this wonder ingredient can help. Again use baking soda on a damp cloth or sponge and gently rub the marks. In no time, you will find these markings gone.

If you want to remove the sticky goo that is commonly left behind by labels and stickers, you can use a paste of baking soda with water to rub off the goo. Using a warm, wet cloth, the remains of the paste can be wiped off.

While using your microwave, many times, food pieces and bits fall inside, making it grimy and grungy. It can be easily and quickly cleaned by using 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda. It must be added to a bowl of water and then placed inside the microwave. The mixture must be heated for 3-5 minutes and you will notice all the crud gone in no time.
