This design and build kitchen exercise room remodel project is located in Plainsboro, New Jersey. This particular sunroom, while it looked nice and offered good views, it was almost inhabitable based on how hot the room got from direct sun. Even with the central air on high, the room would often be over 80° in the summer months. In the existing sunroom, where the exercise room remodel was to be located, the was endless pool that the homeowners weren’t getting much use out of. Further, the homeowners found that they had a cluster of exercise equipment in their living room. Seeking to make changes, the homeowners hired the Design Build Planners to create an an exercise room that better suited the homeowner’s needs. The craftsmanship was by ProSkill Construction.

- Remove endless pool
- Remove entire glass structure
- Leave base and knee wall
- 3′ hinged door to exit
- Upgrade to Pella windows with pleated sheets
- 4 Velux fresh air skylights
- 3 ceiling fan lights
- 12 mini recessed lights
- 30″ floor tile
- Install hinged door to match family room door
The homeowners style preferences were for a contemporary look and finish. They drew their inspiration from remodeling projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and room usage. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
