What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a rather aggravating condition which involves a person’s blood sugar level being quite high. This ailment is marked by the passage of excessive amounts of urine. As many know, high blood sugar is frequently treated with something referred to as ‘insulin’. The human body makes its own insulin, but sometimes our systems need a helping hand.

Some Fruits and Vegetables that Combat Diabetes:

Ginger Root:

Not only does ginger root assist in treating headaches and migraines, asthma, and nausea; this root is great for helping out diabetes in the body!

Supplementing just a tad bit of ginger root in your diet may help fight a high blood pressure level.

So remember, keep this root on the kitchen table and in your tea cup!

These herbs specialize in help with diabetes. While regulating your blood sugar levels, the herbs work at their best to maintain the (almost) perfect numbers.

(This doesn’t mean you can eat bilberry and bitter melon and stop taking your insulin, but the nutrients in the herbs should assist in coping with the menace.)

*Always confirm with your physician about a change in your diet.*

Becca (my Mommy) from Organic Gurlz Gardens has a recipe to share for a Bitter Melon Smoothie:

  • 1/2 cup of ice
  • 2 ripe mangos (We prefer to use the mango when it is peeled and cubed)
  • 2 bitter melons with seeds removed (Also peeled & cubed)
  • 2 pears (Again, peeled and cubed)
  • 1 cup of cubed pineapples
  • 2 tbsp. of raw, organic honey

Place all the ingredients into a high-powered blender.

Blend until the mixture has reached a smooth consistency.

Enjoy!

*Makes four 8 oz. servings.
So, keep in mind this diabetes fighting recipe and its deliciously cool benefits!
