Sadly, a West Keansburg home was destroyed by fire. Fortunately the family of three, Mother and two grown children, survived. Fire fighters from six towns responded as well as the Hazet First Aid and Rescue Squad and the Hazlet Police. A special “thank you” goes out to all the first responders. The cause of the fire was determined to be a second floor lamp. This family was not new to tragedy having lost their father/husband a little more than a year previous.
The homeowner worked with her insurance company and public adjuster on the financial aspects and temporary housing. She was referred to the Design Build Planners to get her and her family back in a home again starting with the new home construction design.
The Design Build Planners designed and developed the slightly adjusted floor plan for building efficiency and better lifestyle function and use. Construction-wise, the house foundation was approved to be reused as was a large portion of the first floor joist framing by 3-D Concepts. ProSkill Construction, a DBP Preferred Contractor, was selected to perform the building work. DMS Demolition has begun the house demolition.
The first day of demolition started off with a great side story. The team located the Mom’s jewelry box with her wedding ring, intact, on the second floor among the charred debris. Later in the day, family photo albums were also located and recovered. Good fortune just may be deservedly returning to this family!
Following the project’s progress as the team works diligently to get this Monmouth County family into their new home.
