We at Organic Gurlz Gardens of Fort Wayne, Indiana would like to explain why it is important to have edible flowers as well as herbs and vegetables in your home garden to benefit your unique, individual body.
Here is just a Few examples:
Tansy. The English name “tansy” orginates from the Greek word “athanasia,” which means “immortality.” Tansy was thought to confer immortality, so it was used for embalming.
Despite serious safety concerns, the segments of the tansy plant that grow above the ground are used to make medicine.
Tansy is commonly used for digestive tract problems including stomach and intestinal ulcers, certain gallblader conditions, gas, bloating, stomachache, stomach spasms, and poor appetite.
“This plant is one pom-pom cheerleader cheering for your body!” ~ AnnahMarie
The above ground parts of the Herb Yarrow are used to make medicinal medicine.
Yarrow is typically used for fever, common cold, hay fever, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and to help with inducing sweat.
Some people chew the fresh leaves to relieve toothaches.
Yarrow consists of many chemicals that might be able to affect blood pressure and possibly have anti-inflammatory effects.
