The homeowner wanted her existing, 20-year old master bathroom remodeled and re-configured as a contemporary, spa-like bathroom for a personal retreat. In order to create the bathroom plan that the homeowner desired, the space that was a small hall and two walk-in closets located between the master bedroom and bathroom had to be included. The newly defined space allowed the incorporation of all the features on the homeowner’s wish list.
Construction-wise, relocating the shower, tub, and toilet required wall and floor re-framing and plumbing relocation. The new window above the tub had to be placed and sized accordingly to avoid the roof line below.
The renovation project increased the already large master bathroom by 60% taking the space of two existing closets and a hallway. The new bathroom has a spa-like, contemporary feel with a vaulted ceiling, new skylight, stone walls, heated floor, heated towel rack, shower body sprays, rain head, bench seat, brushed nickel hardware, smoked glass passage door, huge vanity and cabinet area, plus a private water closet with a pocket door. The overflow tub provides a great, tranquil view of the two-sided fireplace and television above.
The homeowner’s dream bathroom became a reality. She asked for, and received, a contemporary spa-like master bathroom retreat full of personal comfort upgrades. Her reaction of approval and gratitude is apparent in two forms: her order of a kitchen and game room renovation project plus the comment she placed on Houzz.com: “I’m really not sure what to say other than THANK YOU! I love my new master bathroom. I feel like I am in a spa. Neil, you nailed exactly what I wanted in a master bath. I can’t wait to see how my kitchen will turn out. I’m sure that will get knocked out of the park as well. Thank you again for everything.”
