The Monmouth County, New Jersey homeowners wanted to close off the space under their living room in order to create a new cigar room. They hired Design Build Planners to create the interior remodeling design plans.

The new room was customized to become the ideal environment for a cigar connoisseur. This included making the room humidity controlled with the focus being cigar storage. In addition, a beverage center and a wine rack were installed.  Furthermore, a coffered ceiling was to be built.

Below is the full scope of the interior remodeling project:

• Close off space under the family room for a new cigar room

• Frame in humidity-controlled room for cigar storage

• Cut through foundation wall on the side and the rear for exhaust and heated intake unit

• Build stained shadow boxes to 36”

• Build coffered ceiling and cover ceiling with wood.  Stain ceiling

• Close the windows in and install a glass door to the rear

• Install tile plank flooring

• Beverage center with cabinet storage and wine rack

• Lighting per plan

The homeowners style preferences were for a classical look. They drew their inspiration from projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and room usage. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
