Today, Organic Gurlz Gardens of Indiana will be sharing information on, Carpeting vs Hardwood.

When deciding on flooring, there are many factors to take into account beyond just  comfort. Today, we provide a few pros and cons to assist in making your decision easier.

The Fuzzy Side:

Carpeting (1)Carpeting is plenty affordable, comfortable, and adds a homey feel to any space. In addition, carpeting can be quite attractive.

Unfortunately, carpet has some downfalls.

Carpets can increase asthma and sinuses – the fibers may trap allergens and dust.

Also, the grains make a great hideout for fleas, dust mites, and other pestering bugs.

Depending on the quality and traffic, many carpets can look ragged (unintentionally) in three to five years.

*Most carpets have loops and strands that can be tugged loose, and because of its woven nature, once a carpet begins unraveling it quickly gets worse, rather than better.*

The Tree Side:

tips for cleaning hardwood floors - Design Build Planners (1)Hardwood flooring is gorgeous and intricate, and can add volume to any room. In the winter months, there are certain options to add heating to the floors as well – for an added bonus.

Regrettably, this flooring style has its quirks as well.

Hardwood floors are difficult to maintain – steaming the flooring naturally may disrupt the finish. Also, this flooring variety may scratch easily as well.

If not finished properly, Hardwood floors may also shed a few splinters, unhappily to your feet.
