Basement Remodel in Mercer County NJ

These Monmouth Junction NJ clients wanted to make the most of their basement. The basement remodel in Mercer County had a very specific feel to incoporate. The Design Build Planners created designs for the basement. To the right is a computer rendering of the front of the planned remodel. LOK Designs is building and managing the project. The homeowners drew their inspiration from basement remodeling projects featured on The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and planned basement use. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment. Below is a sampling of their Houzz Ideabooks.   Below is a bullet point overview of the scope:
  • Frame basement per plan
  • Open the walls next to the stairs on each side per plan
  • New railings and treads
  • Extend the bottom step to a landing to exit left or right
  • No faux beams or seating area in front
  • Bar in the rear corner (smaller then plan 1)
-upper floating shelves only -sink under window -beverage center and NO dishwasher -seating for 4 at bar -no door -granite counter at 36” high in front of bar, wood shelf under that
  • No stone or tile at all in project
  • Faux copper in the high ceiling area by the bar
  • Frame down ceiling in tv area in T shape to cover HVAC
  • Paint HVAC trunks Black
  • Owner-supplied Ventless gas fireplace under stairs
  • NO built in by TV
  • Bar seating behind the couch with owner-supplied wood top and wood wrapped columns
  • No built ins or table in crafting area
  • Door to storage under steps to be 8’ with 2 deep shelves and safe at floor level
  • Unfinished storage area “L” shape
  • Powder room reduced in size with sani-flo system—no ejector pit
  • Glass doors to gym area
  • No closet in gym area, owner-supplied shelves with curtain/rod, grommet installed by remodeler
  • ½ closet for the sump pump
  • Double door to the utility area
  • Client supplied floating floor system to be installed in all finished areas
  • Prime and paint ceiling, paint exposed ducts prime walls only, client to paint, primed trim
  • Prime risers for client to paint
  • Lighting and approximate outlets per plan
