Basement Finishing Project in Somerset County New Jersey

The homeowner is a Senior Corporate Executive for a well-known sporting goods brand and travels extensively.

In fact, much of the communication about timeline and planning had to be posted to the homeowners Outlook Calendar because of his busy schedule. The presentation of the family home is pristine and with college age sons that the father loves spending time with; it was felt that they should create a space for them to enjoy and do what guys do. The fastest and most efficient way to add considerable space was to finish over 1500sqft of lower level space. A Mark of Excellence Remodeling Project Designer met with the family and through the orientation process came up with a short list of important amenities that would turn the dream into reality.

The home now has what is essentially a third level annex which includes a gym/workout area, a full size pool table room with gaming table and eating area and a media room for the family to watch the various sporting events that each family member is a fan of. In addition there is a separate bedroom for the family or friends.

The space was designed as an extension of the home and features matching trim and chair rail, doors that compliment the other two levels and a complete durable finished floor system. Color themes for the walls, floor and trim were to homeowners’ selection to compliment the upstairs also. The entry to the third level was opened up by including a full glass colonial French door that leads to the enclosed staircase ; adequate lighting and in this particular basement finishing project the home has an existing walk out to the rear yard .

The finished result adds value to the property and to the lifestyle of the homeowners. One of the boys is soon to join the Marines and as the family matures the versatile space can be converted for almost any purpose or family.
