The plan they ultimately chose adds a complete new level with three bedrooms and a bathroom and ample closet storage. On the main level, the kitchen is expanded and reconfigured to improve cooking and enlarge the eating area. In addition a side entry and foyer are added off the driveway to provide a more convenient access to the home.
On the exterior, the new portico over the side entry provides protection from the weather while entering, and the new rear deck adds space to grill directly off the kitchen and includes space for an outdoor shower and dressing area. Aesthetically, the home will get and upgrading siding package with simulated shake shingles on the front, clapboard on the sides and rear, and scallops in the front gables. The side rooflines are continued around the front and rear to provide soffit protection to the windows, covering for the rear window seat, and additional dimension to the façade. Wide window trim also provides a decorative accent and compliments the weathered blue-gray siding color.
The heating system will be upgraded to a more efficient hot water baseboard system and a new zone of AC to work with the existing ductless system. When, complete, this will serve not only as an excellent summer home, but be comfortable for fall excursions, and if desired, a place to retire to for year-round living.
The Design Build Planners created designs for the in depth project. Bravo Builders will be managing and building the project.
The homeowners drew their inspiration from home remodeling projects featured on Houzz.com. The design options are a result of homeowners online research combined with an in-home consultation with Design Build Planners. There is also a proprietary profile checklist that homeowners fill out that depicts their lifestyle and room use. After compiling this information, Design Build Planners incorporates their construction knowledge and design creativity for the space with a focus on the budget and overall investment.
Below are a couple photos of the existing space. Also below are the final CAD created by Jason Parsons, a Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler. Follow along with the project’s progress as photos will be added.
